My guess is that the mechanic used DOT 3 brake fluid when he changed the master. On british cars it melts the natural rubber seals. Rebuild the master, flush the hydraulic system, and fill with Cast

I agree. The only reason I would consider an XJ6 is to get my hands on that beautiful XK engine. No knock on the Chevy small block (I currently have two) but the Jag engine is just lovely to look at
