A mid close gear set works great with a solex setup, and a #2 solex cam, you also need a lower rear end , a 4.37 or better yet a 4.60.... this will make it scream out of the hole, and your always are

You will get more torque , by stroking, but for more HP you will need to do the cam... I have built quite a few strockers and the stock carbs will work fine... Changing the cam would be recomended..
