you're right on the money. the locknut was reused and the nylon worn and it backed all the way off. the key was still in the drive flange and somehow the threads on the inner axle shaft aren't bugger

i have no clue but i have heard that if the spring gets weak you get lower pressure. so a stiffer spring might help. mine will probably get lost b4 i ever get the chance to use it in the future. -- O
