You certainly can do more than just one bad thing in reassembling a wheel brg. I meant "no catastrophic failures" more in the context of one that's been on the car and running fine for some time. BTW

For fine tuning, reading plugs is like reading tea leaves. Mixture screws adjust the richness at idle. But your plugs may have picked up the hot white color from hi rpm's, ergo needle and jet issue.
