I "fixed" this problem on my Series I by gently (this is not easily reversible!) squeezing the dash end shank of the cable housing with Vise-grips. If new cables are not available in the US, I think

I have none of this, and my cable is a simple push-pull type with friction holding it out. Was this on all models? Probably mine was replaced with a non-original! Ron Tebo

You can easily make your own, and probably this is best, since you can "custom fit" your bumpers. (I don't have mine off, at present). The original was a piece of cast aluminum about 1" in diameter
