Agreed. I have put over 10,000 miles on this engine. It may have had this low compression on all those miles, hard to say. I did "break it in" for 500 miles with 30WT, and then run 10W40 Castrol for

I don't believe that they will eat rubber seals, you might be remembering that DOT3 brake fluid will eat rubber seals. This is true. I run Mobil1 15W50 in my '75 TR6, and I'm happy with the results.
