Sounds like a clog to me. It could be in the fuel pickup in the tank, the screens in the fuel pump, or the screens in the carb intake lines. Do you have a fuel filter in line somewhere? Less likely

Although removal of the lever certainly makes things easier, I have not found it necessary on the convertible or the roadster. You do have to exert a sideways push on the lever and wiggle the tunnel

Yes, you could neutralize the acid with maybe half a cup of baking soda followed by 2-3 flushes with water. I would be OK simply with 3-4 flushes with plain water. One interesting note . . . Alan I
