The oil isn't slowly dripping as the car sits. It waits until I drive it and then it spills out about an ounce when I shut down the engine. It is definitely gear oil. I also notice a very low ticking

I went down to Pep Boys and found a roll of insulation with foil backing and some 3M spray on adhesive. I glued it down to the underside of the tunnel with the foil side toward the gearbox and I seal

Safety tip! I learned this when watching a saftey video about boats. It applys to cars too. When the fuel tank filler is above the open cockpit you and your passengers should be outside the vehicle.
