When I pulled the whole assembly, I was faced with the same dilemma. I used some flat bar stock, drilled a hole in each piece, and used some allthread and nuts as a makeshift clamp. Be real careful!

I need to change the flex hose that connects the clutch slave cylinder to the line from the master. Problem is, that nut just won't crack. I'm using a proper flare wrench on the fitting and the nut.
