On the '74 Midget, second, third and fourth are syncro'd gears, but not first, at least if it's original equipment. Mine's original .... not synchro'd first. Sue

Unfortunately the oil in the gearbox isn't the problem. It had 20/50 in it and I added a quality brand 20/50 to it. The oil that was in it was quite clean as well. I'm one of those persons who reads
