Its oval, about 16 inches by 8 inches, stamped steel. Top and bottom sections are held apart by the paper filter element thats about 1.5 inches tall. Originally they were painted hammertone silver.

I think so. The cutoff is 1965, I'm pretty sure. Mine has always been registered as a 1965 with a build date of May(?) 1964. I tried unsuccessfully to get it changed to 1964 registration, I gave up

Yeah, I wasn't going to start another bru-ha-ha but it sure seems illogical to me too that the factory would change to a weaker design for later cars. OK, who has some known '66 or '67 Tiger wheels?
