HaHa - I can beat that - in our local supermarket they have electric tooth brushes for $4.99 - this includes one brush attached and one spare. Spare brushes are packaged at $5.99 for two. Doh! Derek

I probably will catch some grief for saying this, but if you need a tool, why not buy a good one? In the US we seem to have this mentality that cost is king, and if something is $5.00 cheaper, we are

In my case, frequently the only choice has been between buying a cheap tool, or none at all. The other choice is between buying a good tool or feeding my family ... which is no choice at all. I'm no

I don't completely disagree with this attitude, but I also don't think its complete. I run into some folks with this idea that have a few really good tools (set of snap-on phillips head or whatever)

Randall, I am in "violent agreement" with you here given your situation. But the point I was trying to make, and was doing a poor job of it, was that to me, buying tools is not a decision like buying

I rarely make value judgements on the quality of someone else's tools... I do however evaluate the manner in which they are used... Since this is Shop talk... not car talk I can most likely get away

I'll second this statement. There's a psychological effect for some of us. And if someone is always buying cheap, they'll never discover the joy of fine tools.

There's: a) Cheap tools that'll fail catastrophically and knock your teeth out. In this case your insurance agent will appreciate your buying the good stuff. b) Cheap tools that work but can hardly
