I want to replace the "Radiator" cap on my 1500 engine--the old one is pretty ratty--the gasket is worn and it has been painted over ("Radiator" is in quotations because it is not really the radiator

Yes a "standard" (I think that is even the name of the company) cap will fit. I found an octagonal one at Slep Boys. According to my BL shop manual they are 15 lbs/in (1.5 kg/sq cm). Larry Larry Macy

I replaced mine with an off-the-shelf Stant cap (octagonal, even!) from Advance, that I think was rated at 13 pounds. If you'd like, I'll verify the rating, but I think it was listed in the Stant cr
