Have been disassembling a '66B, named Treasure by a member of this list, since October or so, and between it and the '64B, my garage has been full. Well, SO has had to brush snow off of the windows t

I would suspect one of two things 1) wheel cylinders froze 2) clutch/pressure plate froze my 71 would not roll and neither would my 63 at one time and on both cases it was the clutch so I would consi

If the engine is out, shouldn't it roll whether the clutch is stuck or not?

You right - it SHOULD roll withthe engine out; however, being in th ecar hobby for almost 25 years I have seen some odd things - but I agree that is why I placed the wheel cylinders at number 1 Bob

When I stated "froze" I was meaning in a mechanical sense - not literally from water, etc. The wheel cylinder have probably stuck because of sitting and the deterioration that had already taken place

Chris, I think you are correct in your suspicions. If the car has been submerged it probably has water in the differential which has now frozen. It especially makes sense if the car rolled freely at

Thanks to all who responded....I should have been a bit more specific first time around. Car has a transmission, but no clutch. I had pulled the brake lines from the master cylinder as well as all of

I recommend a Sears Kerosene heater.. the "flame thrower" variety. Everyone should have one, and my 66B really likes it. :) If cold is your problem, that'll fix it. Larry Thanks to all who responded.

Am I missing something here? How can the clutch be stuck if the engine is out? How would the clutch even be in the car? My vote is with the brakes. David 71 BGT

How would checking the clutch do anything? The engine is out of the car. Presuming that it came out as normal, and didn't just fall out, the clutch should still be attached to the engine flywheel anl

Chris, the problem is probably the linings stuck to the drums, a common and maddening problem in the presence of humidity. No easy solution. You have to work the drums off by prying, tapping, jigglin

Just had this problem on a car we towed in (disconnected the driveshaft, BTW, heh heh). Tapping and jiggling was not working, so we applied a three-jawed puller -- a fairly heavy one, about 10" size

Clearly you were not aware that towing without a driveshaft connected sets up a sympathetic harmomic resonance that oscillates at the precise frequency necessary to cause the drums to stick like imp

The hydraulics had failed and the brakes were stuck tighter than ticks on a hound dog, so I pulled the drums and removed the shoes before proceeding, but, by Grab, you're right on that harmonic reso
