I drilled the rivets and removed the rubber strip. If you do it this way, be sure to get any pieces of rivet out of the header bar as they will clatter from side to side in every turn if you don't. B

Yes, remove the rubber strip and alloy channel to allow you to glue the vinyl underneath it. Sheet metal screws or pop-rivets for replacement. Have a look which way round the rubber strip goes, mine
