When this happened to me on my 1968 Midget, it was a bad brake master cylinder. I tried a rebuild kit but it did not hold. I ended up replacing the master cylinder. Dick Watson '68 & '78 Midgets

I was just there, same problem. My problem was the brake master cylinder first then a few days later the clutch MC. If you have the later version Midget with the separate brake and clutch cylinders

Another possibility check under the dash carefully while the engine is running. You may have a leak it the line going to the oil pressure guage. ...Art
