I can't offer a lot of help, but I am 6'2" and own a TD, so I can offer some comments. First, there is quite a bit of movement possible with the seat back and base. Be sure the seat back is adjusted

He may be able to reposition the tracks so that the seatback touches the vertical panel behind the seats. Mine touches there, and the tracks are positioned as they were intially placed when the car

I would think having the steering wheel all the way out would improve knee room (although requiring bent elbows). Further out means higher compared to the seat cushion, and further from the critical
