FWIW, I used a couple of "cheap" timing chains long ago (probably late 70's). They had a "master link" - what a pain in the neck (unless you LIKE replacing the chains every 100 miles or so)! I think

On the timing chain components, one way to find out is to buy them and take a look. Sadly, I was helping a friend change the timing chain set on his Z24 (2400cc Nissan) motor. Single roller on those,
