I plan to install Richard Good's triple carb setup on my 71 TR6. The head (early model) was overhauled less than 2 years ago and is working very well. I do have an extra head that is a 1974, but, it

The later head has much better profiles on the ports, and so flows much better than the earlier head. Also, despite the fact that the earlier head has a larger exhaust valve, I believe the later hea

Several years ago I noted that my valves had fallen under the desired spec, so far as stem diameter. This was on what is considered to be the late (1973) head, with the better intake manifold. So I o

Question for the group. Originally I had a problem with the engine rpms on the old man's TR6 gradually increasing as the car sat idling, but after doing a rebuild of the carbs, that problem was taken

Hi, Dick Hum, ha, er.... Can't answer that one, though I'd be surprised an earlier model head was hanging around in Engine Assembly for that long. Of course it could happen but I'd be surprised if it

John--Other than the diameter of the exhaust valves, every other indication is that of the later head. Port spacing, head thickness and the like. Guess it will just remain a mystery. Dick standardtri

Ummm. Have you had the engine overhauled before? Could the machine shop have upgraded the valve size as part of a rebuild? If you do some judicious reshaping of the combustion chamber in the vicinit

I don't mean to hijack this topic, but I've been following it with interest. I was wondering, is there any advantage in putting the later head onto an early block? Or is it even possible? I have a TR

The late head will bolt right up to the block. No probs there. You WILL have to change the intake manifold to the later style. I'm not sure if the carb air cleaner will clear the TR250 inner fender,

I would add that the compression on the later head is lower, so you will want to mill the later head to regain compression. And as long as you are doing that, you might as well mill it enough to bri
