- fot, i recently modified the head on my tr3 vintage racer to increase the cr. i took .100" off the thickness and cc'ing calculates a 10.5/1 cr. the problem is that head gaskets only last about 15 min

- When I raced TR4s years ago we used the all steel head gaskets....with them you can trim the gasket to fit the overbore of the combustion chamber..I do not know if they are still available... Racer B

- Basically, that doesn't work. The stock gaskets have thin copper fire rings and if they are exposed to the combustion chamber at all without heat sink on both sides, they burn away. You either need s
