I use a Panasonic SD cam. The SDR-150 and a 2x wide lens converter to have a wide angle view. I really don't know why modern cams have great zoom capabilities but almost no wide angle. Cheers Chris -

No input for external mic. The camera is housed inside of a case that is waterproof to 100'. However audio comes through very nice and for open cars you can select to have the wind noise filtered out
