Scott, I'm not sure if this is comparable or not but on my Sprites I'd have the probes 6 inches from the exhaust valve center. Under full load at the end of the straight I'd be looking for about 1250

I target 1350 but only at the end of a straight, Anything else I ignore. When I ran stock pistons 1400 degrees was the fear point. Your situation may be different. This was on a 1296 Spitfire comfort

The probes in the header I was using at the last race weekend ARE too close to the head - about 3 inches from the port. So I didn't believe the 1400 degree reading on the EGT, as you suggest. We jus
