- The threads in thermostat housing are British Pipe Threads. the threads are not tapered, they are parallel threads. USP 3/8 threads are tapered threads. The sending unit seals by the threads pushing

- Following Kas' little old black book, buy a roll of screen door felt from the local hardware store, cut it into little sections, soak them in Permatex, and pound them into each side of the rear main

- You might want to test fit your gauge, Greg. As I recall, the TR4 housing will accept the original TR3 mechanical gauge, and my Sun mechanical temp gauge fits into a TR3 housing perfectly. Randall _
