While racing today at LRP, I lost the head gasket. Brand new motor, only 2 sessions of time on it. Upon inspection, the rear freezeplug had "left the building". So my question is this, is it more lik

Hi Jay....I don't know what TR you are racing, ..I have a new engine in my Spitfire....and the new freeze plugs are leaking..without even being on the track.....I've been told that now that the block

I lost a freeze plug on my Spitfire years ago and more recently had one leaking on a head that I rebuilt for my TR3. Both were plugs that were in place for years. From now on, I will replace them as

ISTR that some racers hold their freeze plugs in place with a strap attached to the block with some kind of screws, to prevent them coming out? I do not believe that the age of the blocks has any eff

None of us really need freeze plugs unless you store your car in an unheated garage with water in it. I use screws around the edge to retain everything, topped with a nice coating of JB weld over a n
