Check the simple stuff first, you mentioned the choke, choke can stick on, which will make the motor run worse as it warms up and doesn't need the choke anymore? You can push the jets up on the botto

I'm going to disagree with Alan on this one. It is indeed likely that the head gasket has "burned" though between two cylinders, thus two are being pressurized simultaneously caused very pronounced
