- Well the Pinto engine was based on a European Ford design. It would be closer to correct than a small block, and the cylinder count is the same as the original http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto

- As it already has got a non standard engine it would be a nice car to drop in a RoverV8 or a Nissan/Datsun straight six engine (which is possibly based on the Austin straight six as Datsun originally

- The Datsun 240/Fairlady motor is a different Datsun only design, but the manifolds will take SU 1.75" and 2" carbs. In the 1980s in California it was impossible to find HD8 carbs from the local auto
