I would not be cutting those U bolts down any shorter or you'll never get them back on a second time should you ever need to. Also have you made sure you have installed everything that should be the

I seem to recall that one of the parts suppliers were selling the more readily available MG U bolts that were longer but could be cut down to the correct A-H length. Are your U bolts original or are
