To All: Last I heard was that CA DMV wasn't allowing you to use old plates anymore unless they had been on that car continually so be careful. I have seen some order the "vanity" plates with vintage

Doug--not exactly correct. I have black plates on my BN1. Clearly they were not the "original plates" on the car. They were on the car when I bought it and DMV has allowed me to keep them. __________

I have black plates on my 1960 Bugeye also that were not the original plates to the car. Black plates were assigned to my car in 1963 like everyone's car in California at the time. It did not matter
