My BJ8 (with adjustable wheel) has a circular retaining ring that stops the wheel from just sliding off the splines. Spread it a little, remove it and the wheel slides off. I hope this is a help on t

The three small screws in the body of the steering wheel hold the trafficator/control head in place. Loosen them and you should be able to pull the control head out enough to be able to work on it.
