I'd vote for hinges even though such a setup requires continual care during intense staging line activities. Mounting on slides would have to be done with care and attention to constraints in the mec

My original lakester canopy which is being retained for the liner is hinged at the front on a 1/2" tubular structure, assisted by two gas springs. The aluminum canopy Dzus fastens to the structure.

I hinge the canopy on my car to one side...like an F-104. Good access for entry and exit and it holds itself in position. Instruments are attached and they swing out of the way. Front hinged canopie
