Bob, seeing how you have the radiator installed, and want to just replace the radiator hose. They are now too stiff to install. The bump in the hose, aka bumped hose, was supposed to be a flex joint.

Another possibility is to remove the four screws holding the water outlet elbow to the head and pull the elbo and thermostat down to alllow top hose installation. Might require removal of the bypass
