If you ask me, one Dremel-type tool is the same as any other. I had the Black & Decker (I think) version for about 10 years before it finally pooped out. I replaced it with a generic, flex-shaft type

On manufacturer I would say go with Dremel On speed and cord go with the corded variable. The types of things you will do with this lend themselves to variable speed. You don't keep your finger on it
