DOT 5.1 is DOT 4 but better. It is reportedly compatible with everything but Jim I don't know how DOT 5.1 behaves. It's apparently not silicone based like 5. I personally use DOT4 - Castrol GT/LMA fo

DOT 3 & DOT 4 are basically the same. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point. DOT 4 is -NOT- silicone-based.....-ONLY- DOT 5. DOT 5 is not new. Can't find when it came into being, but I remember seeing it

As far as I know, DOT 3 and 4 are chemically similar, both absorb water, DOT 4 has a higher wet boiling point. DOT 5 is silocone based, does not absorb water, but any water in the system can collect
