- I don't have any experience; but have done pretty much the same research as you, with pretty much the same conclusion. Note that the homebrew converters, both static and "rotary" flavors also result

- One other thing I forgot to mention. My motor is 3 phase, 208 volt. Most of the VFDs are rated for 230 volts. If I drive the motor with a slightly higher voltage, the amp draw should be slightly less
