I've had a Lincoln WeldPak 155 (220v) for around 10 years with no problems welding steel from body panels to 0.134" ERW tube but, if I had it to do it over I get another Lincoln with variable voltage

I don't believe the continuously variable feature is much more than a novelty. I have a Hobart Hander 140, which does NOT have continuously variable voltage, so I am biased. Also, you will be happy
