I think it best to overkill the battery tie-down solution because of weight and criticality issues. What I have done on my '67 vintage race Midget has also been applied to my '72 street Midget. A pie

Well yeah, and wood is all over my house and garage. But I switched to wood after my battery shorted out across the terminals and the metal hold down many years ago. Talk about letting the smoke out!
