I should learn NOT to jump to conclusions...!! I have just removed and cleaned the inlet manifold and SU's, and I find the following.. 1) The manifold is marked 12g1450 - which is correct for a 1275

My guess is the tabs where the floats bolt on have sheared off. I have several SUs with snapped off tabs. They work fine with just the rubber grommet as long as you don't do roll overs or highly bank

The carb body is at an angle but the float chamber is also at a smaller angle! Frank suggested that maybe the PO put the grommets on the wrong carbs as the are 'handed'. Looking from the front of th
