After all the talk about Datsun 5 speeds. I started looking at them a little closer. Can some one tell me what the FL, FA, FX means. Does any one know which are dogleg and which are not? Vigil -- Loo

FL, FA, and FX are stamped on the top of the bellhousings. I think they denote the proper tranny for the conversion. I dunno what you mean by dogleg. _______________________________________________ S

I do not know what the F #s mean. I think it is related to the set up of the I did not ask - but now after thinking about it i wondered about the difference is in the set up. A dogleg is when 1st is

I think it has to do more with the year of manufacture. Of all the ones I pulled the FA was on 1980, FL on 1981, FX on 1982's. The "dogleg" shift pattern was on the 1979's where the drain plug is on
