More on the tight steering rack issue - Last time I worked on this problem, I had disconnected the tie rod ends from the steering arms to see if that was making the steering bind. It wasn't. I had to

Sure, clean all the grease out as best you can and add 90 wieght, you should be good to go. Don't need to take it apart further if it operates ok. _______________________________________________ Edit

So, should I screw in a grease fitting and crank it full of grease? Is there some way to verify what type of rack I have on my 73 midge? Another thought occurs - does the steering column need lubrica

73 should have the Spit rack. I don't know if you should be able to move the rack by pushing on the rod ends. But, the steering wheel should turn easily with the rod ends disconnected or with the fro

There's nothing wrong with the Spit rack in the Midget. The older rack is supposedly better because of the ratio and relative beefiness, but I don't think it is something worth changing out unless yo
