I'd be more inclined to accuse your wheel boxes. The housings are aluminium, and the shafts are steel, and you know what happens when dissimilar metals are in contact with one another. I'd see if you

Check for a kink in the rack tubes, old grease or no grease in the tubes and the wheel boxes do come apart with a suitable punch (out of the car and on the work bench) -- Frank Clarici Toms River, NJ
