My Mk1 has a piece or round pencil rod. It has all the bends and does away with the cable It is an improvement although not orginal BUT I wont ever brake a cable and have to rig up something to pull

There is an old tech tip somewhere that said motor cycle shops carry wire cables and can make them to length. Try there. The Holley 600 on my F4B fits great. The accelerator cables was to short too.
