That is basically how I installed the alternator from a Geo Metro. I couldn't see exactly how you did yours, but I braced mine in a triangulated fashion to a common water pump bolt. The solid brace

No. The '85 had a wide serpentine belt so you at least need to change the pully on the alternator. The bracket might be able to be used somehow but I bet it would need alot of re-work. Gary I didn't
