I am just about to replace the 289 hipo in my Tiger and was looking for input on what heads to put on a 302 block. I figure I should go with roller rockers and cam for easy horsepower and efficency a

Hey Nathan, being a fox body mustang owner I have a little insight here...not as much Tiger related, but more SBF EFI related...something I've messed with quite a bit over the years. To my knowledge

I have built three SBF engines (347 stroker, 289, 331 stroker) using the Edelbrock aluminum Performer RPM heads and have had good luck with the quality and the horsepower. Now all three were flat ta

Cullen, Bugz and all: This issue of clearance with roller rockers came up when we were rebuilding my '67 289. I was talked into "roller-tipped rockers" as a viable solution to the clearance problem,

Seems the OP was looking for a mild build and wanted aluminum heads for their lighter weight and better heat dissipation? The heads being thrown out are all "bigger", with 2.02" valve etc and may not

Probably the greater advantage of the "roller tip" is it should reduce friction at the contact point of the valve. This should reduce the valve side load and increase the life of the valve guide. Th

Not necessarily. I chose the Edelbrocks with the 1.90" intake valves for my 289 project. The same heads are also available with the larger 2.02" intake valves which I have used on the big inch motors

hmmmm...well my understanding on the term "roller tip rockers" is to imply that its not a full roller rocker but only the tip is roller. I have seen stamped rockers that looks similar to the factory

The AFR 165 heads have 1.90" intake valves and 1.6" exhaust, so they might be a good choice for a more streetable engine especially if it's going to be a 289. AFR still says the '86 5.0 requires pist

A full roller rocker, i.e. tip and fulcrum has several advantages, as mentioned cooler operation, and they can increase the rocker ratio, thereby giving a higher lift to the valves, without changing

A word of caution when fitting replacement heads to the block on a Tiger. Take into consideration the total height of the new head and valve cover assembly relative to the stock installation. You ma
