Hey guys: Another path to pursue to make my Tiger more user-friendly: My car came to me fitted with 3:07 gears in the rear end. It turns about 3,000 rpm at 60 mph. Thinking a set of original 2:88's w

I did it out of necessity. The PO had allowed water to get into the housing and all the bearings were shot. Shot to the point that one had spun and wore about .035 off a press fit on the carrier. I

You might want to use the calculator at this link: http://www.corral.net/tech/gearcalc.html I am not sure that moving from a 3.07 to 2.88 will make a huge difference. I was running a 3.54 in my Mark

Tigers & Bill, The DANA (SALISBURY) English built LSD has the correct bolt diameter to hold the original 2.88's without machining, or "stepped" bolts. It was used on the Jaguar, and is a "bolt-in", i

Bill makes a point about the change. If you use a calculator you can find a tire size (larger) that will equal equivalent the difference between the 3.07 and the 2.88 gears. Perhaps you can borrow a

FYI, the static radius of 195/70-13's (compared to that of 5.90-13's) is really close to making up the difference from 2.88 to 3.07 gearing. 205-60-13's are only about 1% larger diameter than OEM 5.9

I'm curious about not using used gears. Seems that people will pull the carrier and replace it with a LSD or something of the sort and use the original gears - and it is not an issue. What is the dif
