I thought I read somewhere that the 260's in Ford vehicles were a different block from the Tiger 260s. A different design, with the number of freeze plugs and the thin wall casting design being obvio

Jan 1963, Ford changed the design of the 221 and 260 block to conform with the 289's 7" mount pattern and the 3 freeze plugs on both sides. The 260 casting # for this block is C3OE-6015-B. I believe
