In looking through the 1958 shop manual, it looks like the cam MUST be removed from the engine and the gear pressed off on a floor press. Is this correct? What am I missing? Paul O'Neil, Hudson29@aol

It kinda depends on 1. if you have the older fiber type gear & 2. if you do have the fiber gear, how you can get a hold of the hub of the gear near the camshaft (otherwise you'll just destroy the fib

A hydraulic press is going to be the best way of removing/replacing the cam gear. Although I just removed the aluminum cam gear on my 235 (cam out of the block) using a somewhat cruder method. I sup
