The "848" head for the 235 has slightly smaller combustion chambers, thus a little higher compression ratio than earlier models. The "848" is the last 3 digits of the casting number. they oletrucks i

The 848 heads are the ones that were more commomly used on engines to be put in cars. they are noted by the 848 in the casting numbers. these heads give just a little more compression than the other

What's the difference between these if any? I was comparing a spare 235 I picked up to the one in my truck and found different head casting numbers. The head on the spare has casting # 3835913 GM16,
