Mark I`m talking off the cuff here having never done this my self BUT I have seen this done two ways. back side( strip can be polished back out) holes after welding can be ground down and re painted.

There have been many discussions on this in the past. The old ones are best removed using a spot weld drill bit (a special bit for drilling out spot welds, I'm told-I don't know the tool personally).

Use a SS welding rod. will work every time on SS to reg steel only problem is removing the weld, you will have to grind it out if you ever need to remove it. Pat 67 Nova SS 41 Art Deco chevy truck --

Do you know what type Super Glue was used? I've seen an article where they are gluing in some patch panels, is this, the glue that you speak of? I don't weld, so the glue sounds like a better idea.

They do make Welding rod for welding ferrous metals to nonferrous metals, I used to weld brass inserts into a metal water pipe for irrigation. Ask at your local welding supply shop for advise. Or go
