I bought an alternator (one wire internal regulated) as I converted to HEI (from Langdon's) and will be switching to 12 volt setup., While talking to the man at the auto electric shop he said to stay

Sure connect it up. You or that guy can install a fusible link on the main power supply wire leaving the alternator. This was if their is a problem, the link burns out like it's designed and the rest
