Wally, I think you'll do fine if you get some 1/8" masking tape and carefully tape around the borders of the letters. Then either paint by hand, or do a little more masking and spray the contrasting

Wally, I have had pretty good luck by taping over the letters and surrounding area with masking tape and then cutting the tape out covering the letters with a really sharp hobby knife (X-acto knife)

On my 51, I found it pretty easy to paint them by hand...the natural ridges kept it pretty straight...I did mine in black...worst that'll happen is that you might have to clean it off...no biggie Dav

these acrylic and nitrocellulose puttys are obsolete. Body shops have switched to polyester putty that takes a hardener like body filler. It does not shrink and will not absorb solvents to haunt you

WR, When you do the decals, don't depend on the adhesive. Wet the entire decal in water and it will slide around wherever you want. If it needs trimming, it slides off easily. I took an extra decal I

That's true, when you wet it, the glue is shot. Once you stick it down, that's it. It will probably stretch if you try to peel it off. Wet it and you can slide it around. Capillary action holds it on
